John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people through his songs of pop-folk, many of which were based in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and eventually relocated to Aspen. Denver's most popular songs about his home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular performers who embodies Colorado. In 2011, Denver was chosen as the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other end of the planet, one from New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the first word that comes that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown explained. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career with folk bands which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff had Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the song, but Denver discovered that it was destined to turn into a hit once the song was first heard by him. The singer recorded the song just a few days later after performing it to an enthusiastic audience in Washington D.C.
