John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs he composed, the majority of which were situated in Colorado. Certainly in my travels you encounter someone on the other part of the globe, someone of New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the first word that comes out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief period in small folk ensembles. Danoff composed the song to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single when he first heard it.
